CXCR2 is a G protein-coupled receptor for CXC chemokines, including IL-8, expressed predominantly on neutrophils and other myeloid cells. Ligand binding activates downstream intracellular signaling cascades (such as PI3K/AKT/RhoA) that drive chemotaxis and phenotypic changes in the receiving cell.
