signaling-pathways

C/EBP-beta (CCAAT/enhancer-binding protein beta) is a transcription factor that has been linked to immunosuppressive macrophage polarization. Its activity is regulated by phosphorylation and by nuclear translocation, so the ratio of nuclear to cytoplasmic C/EBP-beta, or of phosphorylated to total protein, is used as a readout of its activation.

Several distinct upstream inputs, including adrenergic cues associated with stress and TNFR2 signaling, have been reported to converge on C/EBP-beta to shape myeloid programs. The small molecule ST101 is used as a pharmacological C/EBP-beta inhibitor.
