Trogoptosis

Trogoptosis is trogocytosis-mediated cell death of the donor cell, caused by substantial loss of its own plasma membrane during the membrane-transfer process. It is distinct from fratricide, which kills the antigen-dressed recipient cell instead.

One example is FcγR- and CD11b/CD18-mediated trogoptosis of antibody-opsonized tumor cells by neutrophils/macrophages, which is enhanced by blocking the CD47 “don’t eat me” signal.
