TCF1 (T Cell Factor 1) is a transcription factor that marks progenitor, stem-like CD8+ T cells with self-renewal capacity. TCF1+ CD8+ T-cell subsets, often co-expressing PD-1, are associated with durable responses to immune checkpoint blockade and are considered a favorable phenotype for sustained antitumor immunity, in contrast to terminally exhausted T-cell states.
